Keep ![]() Al Sears, M.D., is a medical doctor and one of the nation's first board-certified anti-aging physicians. As a board-certified clinical nutritionist, strength coach, ACE-certified fitness trainer and author, Dr. Sears enjoys a worldwide readership and has appeared on more than 50 national radio programs, ABC News, CNN and ESPN. In 2010, Dr. Sears unveiled his proven anti-aging strategies in Reset Your Biological Clock. As the first U.S. doctor licensed to administer a groundbreaking DNA therapy that activates the gene that regulates telomerase, Dr. Sears made history by bringing telomere biology to the general public. In 2006, Dr. Sears shocked the fitness world by revealing the dangers of aerobics, "cardio" and long-distance running in his book, PACE: The 12-Minute Fitness Revolution. In 2004, Dr. Sears was one of the first doctors to document the true cause of heart disease and expose the misguided and often fatal drugs-and-surgery approach to heart health. In The Doctor's Heart Cure, Dr. Sears outlines the easy-to-follow solution that effectively eliminates your risk of heart disease, high blood pressure and stroke. An avid lecturer, Dr. Sears regularly speaks at conferences sponsored by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), the American College for the Advancement of Medicine (ACAM) and the Age Management Medicine Group (AMMG). |
(BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and melanoma. Cumulative sun exposure is linked to BCC and SCC. With early detection, these are rarely fatal. But melanoma is a different story… this deadly form actually has an inverse relationship to sunshine.
So is the sun really responsible? Think about it. The sun is five billion years old. It hasn’t changed in recent times. And, our sun exposure has dramatically decreased over the last seven decades.
If sunshine were deadly, people who live in sunny climates would suffer the most deaths from skin cancer. But the opposite is true. Those who live in cold, damp climates with little sunshine – like London or Minnesota – have higher rates than those who live in sun-drenched areas like Arizona, New Mexico and Florida.2
And today, just 10 percent of people work outdoors – compared with 75 percent a hundred years ago. But these facts are routinely ignored by dermatologists and the sunscreen industry…
The Sun is NOT Your Enemy…
Corporations with a vested interest benefit from the belief that sunlight in any amount is dangerous—even deadly. Every year, these groups spend millions of dollars to sell you their products and services. And their financial rewards are clear: $30 billion worth of products every year with $6 billion in annual sales of sunscreens alone.
But to convince you that you need their products, they must first convince you that the sun is dangerous.
In just a few short decades, our perception of the sun changed from miracle healer to predatory menace. Scientists, physicians, and journalists focused entirely on risks, completely forgetting the well-documented benefits.
Before long, very few remembered what our ancestors knew instinctively: The sun gives you vital nutrients and remarkable disease-fighting power. But the consensus became nearly universal that sunlight is a dangerous killer.
Here’s what the studies really say about the deadliest of all skin cancers:
Authors of this study concluded that in both Australia and Great Britain, professionals and office workers were at greater risk than people who worked outside. Another study showed that those who work under fluorescent light double their risk.5
So what accounts for the sudden rise? My answer: we are exposing ourselves to new carcinogens, eating foods that promote skin cancer, and not getting enough of the nutrients that prevent it.
“I Feel Good About Living in Florida…”
“I moved down here to retire, then my dermatologist tells me to stay out of the sun. I thought, ‘This is crazy!’ Then Dr. Sears’ told me everything I needed to know about how to get the real benefits of the sun… Now I can relax and feel good about living in Florida! I took the book to my dermatologist and said, ‘See, the sun really is good for you!’ He didn’t say a word… and I’ve never felt better…”

You’ll find all the details in Your Best Health Under the Sun. It’s my newest project, inspired in part by my friend and colleague, Jon Herring. We lectured together a few years back, and when I heard he was working on the health-enhancing benefits of sunlight, we got together and “compared notes.”
I was impressed by his research and thrilled when I recognized the connection to my work on reigniting your “native health” through sunlight.
Together, we show you exactly how to get more of the one vitamin that prevents cancer, relieves depression and burns enough fat to help you find – and keep – your ideal weight.
Men: Slash Your Risk |
Sun exposure produces one of the most potent health-boosting substances in your body. This amazing vitamin performs countless valuable functions for you. It’s also an essential hormone. It can:
This may be the single most important organic nutrient for your overall health. If it were a drug, it would be the discovery of the century.
This amazingly beneficial nutrient is vitamin D. Your body makes vitamin D when the sun’s ultraviolet rays strike your skin. And we can all get plenty of it free, just by spending enough time in the sun.
But studies show that a widespread deficiency of vitamin D is rampant in America today. The average person today has lower vitamin D levels than their parents had just 30 years ago.
And that shouldn’t surprise you… If you’re like most people, you probably spend 90% of your daylight hours indoors. And that can be downright dangerous.
You see, there’s a direct link between low sunlight exposure and vitamin D deficiency. There’s also a link between low vitamin D levels and other diseases. Research shows that vitamin D reduces the risk of the three biggest killers of our generation – heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.
“Ask anyone in America if the sun causes cancer and they will quickly answer yes. Ask them if the sun prevents cancer and they will tell you to see a psychiatrist.” – John Cannell, MD |
If you’re deficient in vitamin D, genes designed to protect your health can’t work properly, because they need vitamin D to switch them on. One of the most significant scientific discoveries of the century was the role of vitamin D in health maintenance. This discovery alone will have a dramatic impact on disease prevention, including cancer.
Your Best Health Under the Sun tells you exactly how much vitamin D you really to need to prevent disease. It also shows you how to supplement with vitamin D during the winter months so you don’t fall prey to seasonal depression (SAD).
“I Feel Optimistic in February…”
“Where I live, the winters are long and sunlight is scarce. I never made the connection, but after talking to Dr. Sears, I realized my winter depression is from vitamin D loss. Dr. Sears showed me how to get the right amount of vitamin D in a supplement and now I don’t get depressed when winter roles around. I actually feel optimistic during February! The difference is amazing… Thank you, Dr. Sears”

And, I give you simple tips to maximize the sun’s natural benefits without overdoing it. After all, you do need to protect yourself. But be careful…
Industry Fat Cats |
Using sunscreen on occasion may be better than suffering sunburn. But there is no evidence that it will protect you from skin cancer. In fact, evidence suggests just the opposite – that sunscreens have partially caused the increase in skin cancer.
Sunscreens block your skin from producing the pigment melanin. This prevents your body from employing its natural defense against overexposure to sunlight – a tan. We have convincing evidence that, just as previous generations always believed; a good tan is quite healthy for a number of reasons.
There are other problems with sunscreens, too. They block nearly all production of the only vitamin that is also an essential hormone, vitamin D. They dramatically worsen the epidemics of vitamin D deficient diseases of the modern era.
Many of these commercial preparations have hormone-mimics that can wreck havoc on your delicate endocrine system. And, worst of all many chemicals used to block UV radiation are themselves carcinogenic!
As you’ll discover in Your Best Health Under the Sun, regular use of sunscreens will damage your health more than protect your skin. And, you’ll find natural alternative strategies to avoid both these chemicals and getting sunburned.
And that’s not all… I uncover the connection between sunlight and good sex. Youthful skin, too… Here’s a quick peek at what else you’ll find:
