Counting Calories Will Only Make You Fatter

Doctors and nutrition “experts” want you to believe that counting calories and exercising to burn calories is the only way to lose fat.

How many times have you turned on the TV and heard someone say, “Calories in, calories out… that’s all you need to worry about.”

Or one of my other favorites, “If you don’t exercise to burn calories, those extra calories turn to fat.”

Both are not always true.

Your body is not a machine. It’s a living being that has its own “intelligence.” Your body decides on its own how to use the calories you consume. There is no proof that excess calories automatically turn to fat.

Even worse, when you exercise with the idea of burning calories, you will only train your body to store more fat. As you’ll see, burning fat while you exercise is one of the biggest mistakes you can make.

I told her to cut her calories to 1600 and see me in 2 weeks. She did this diligently and brought me a complete record. She gained 4 pounds.

Counting Calories Is the Wrong
Strategy for Weight-Loss

As I said, all diets are doomed to fail.

History shows that 5 out of 6 people who try to lose weight fail. And more than 90% of those who do succeed in losing weight, gain all the weight back within 2 years.

When you consider the flawed strategy these diets use, this is no surprise. You can’t achieve and maintain your ideal weight by starving yourself thin. Even if you could, it would be bad for your health.

Losing weight has been so hard because you have the wrong tool for the job. If you drop your calories too low and go hungry – forcing your body to lose weight – your body will fight you. It’s part of your body’s built-in “intelligence.”

Too few calories and your body reacts as if you’re starving and will do everything it can to make and store fat.

Your body has mechanisms for setting your weight at where it wants it to be. It’s similar to the way you set your house temperature with your thermostat.

So the right tool for the job is one that changes your set point. The good news is that you can change these controls by eating differently, not less.

There are a handful of essential amino acids that have almost disappeared from our modern diet. These building blocks tell your body it’s safe to burn fat. It’s the opposite response to the feeling of starvation you get from counting calories.

Getting back to your native diet gives you a lot more freedom and a lot more enjoyment. When you reintroduce these key amino acids and proteins, you can eat up to 5,000 calories a day and never gain an ounce.

And you won’t have to waste time in the gym with hours of long, boring routines that get you nowhere. By exercising less, you’ll train your body to burn fat for up to 16 hours after you stop. These specialized activities change your metabolism to burn fat over a longer period of time. It makes aerobics and “cardio” obsolete.

I’ve used these strategies with countless numbers of patients. This high-calorie, brief-exercise approach helps trigger what I call “high-speed fat loss.”

Eating a Low-Fat Diet Makes You Fat

For 50 years, the American Heart Association, the modern food industry, and the media have been telling you the secret to fat-loss is a low-fat diet. This low-fat lie is a dangerous mistake and a national tragedy.

The “fat police” have us so scared of fat, a lot of folks are afraid to touch it.

But a handful of doctors, myself included, have been saying the opposite – that dietary fat is not the problem.

Your body needs certain fats to thrive. In fact, your body uses many of these healthy fats as fuel. Simply eating fat doesn’t mean your body will store it as fat around your belly.

Low-Fat Diets “Counterproductive”
to Good Health

Let’s be clear… eating a low-fat, high-carb diet not only makes you fatter, but also puts you at risk for a slew of medical problems, from the onset of diabetes to heart disease and stroke.

The State University of New York at Buffalo found that low-fat diets cause health problems. The researchers found that people who eat low-fat diets develop weaker immune systems.1

Another study examined people eating very low fat diets (14% fat). People eating very low-fat diets showed no improvement in body composition, blood sugar levels, insulin levels, or blood pressure levels. The study’s authors called very low-fat diets “counterproductive” to health.2

Native cultures from around the world have shown us that low fat is a mistake.

Eskimos, with their red meat and very high-fat diet of seal and whale blubber, show no signs of obesity or heart disease. The Masai of east Africa who live on raw milk, cattle meat, and blood and organ meat are also free of dental cavities, obesity, or heart disease.

Among the healthiest of all native groups studied are the Dinkas. They live along the banks of the Nile River and live mostly on fish and shellfish. One western physician who lived among them reported to have never seen a single case of obesity, heart disease, or cancer in 15 years.

When I hiked through the Amazon and spent time with the native Ashaninkas of Peru, I marveled at their lean bodies and perfect teeth. These people lived on meat and milk, and they never “exercised.” In fact, they lead a very leisurely lifestyle. They would go on a hunt only every 3 or 4 days and would walk for hours. But the only real “work” would come in short bursts when they made a kill.

This is true of every native culture known to man. Diets high in fat and protein produce people who are thin, lean, and disease-free.

You, too, can have a lean, fat-free body with no trace of disease. And you don’t have to give up your modern conveniences or go back to living in caves.

You can enjoy a diet that’s rich in fat and full of everything the “fitness experts” say is “bad” for you.

I’ll show how. First, let’s set the record straight...

You Are NOT Genetically Programmed to Get Fat

Many have claimed that getting fat is a consequence of our own success, because we’re “programmed” to overeat as a survival strategy.

They say that only now are we capable of eating as much as we want so our predestined genes doom us to either get obese or feel starved.
