With all the bickering and bad news coming out of Washington D.C. lately, you may have missed this recent piece of good news…
In December, Congress passed an $867 billion farm bill that made a natural herb legal again.
After 82 years.
During these eight decades, our government decided to treat us like children. Telling us we don’t have the right to decide what’s best for us and our health.
I’m glad they finally amended the law. This herb is one of the world’s most effective medicines — and has been for more than 6,000 years.
In fact, oil made from the stalks, leaves and buds of the plant has been shown in studies to:
- Relieve chronic pain1
- Improve heart health2
- Reduce inflammation3
- Ease arthritis4
- Lower blood sugar in diabetics5
- Alleviate anxiety and depression6
I’m talking about hemp oil. And it’s a real miracle because of everything it can do…
But what has me most excited is hemp’s proven effects on Alzheimer’s and dementia patients.
In fact, this ancient oil could be the cure we’ve been waiting for. In a recent study published in Nature Medicine, the results were amazing.
German researchers gave old and young animals a memory test. At first, the elderly performed poor and the young performed well.
Then the old animals were given hemp oil. Within days, the old animals performed equal to the healthy, young ones!
And they continued their results long after the doses were done.
Researchers called it “a profound, long-lasting improvement of cognitive performance.”7
Here’s how this miracle oil works:
Hemp is one of 85 different plants in the C. sativa family. But unlike marijuana, hemp does not contain THC — the compound that can get you high. What it can do is interact with and influence receptors in your brain called
the cannabinoid system.Cannabinoids are natural chemicals first discovered in the 1940s. Not until the 1980s, however, have scientists known that cannabinoids work with receptors that allow them to attach and permeate the blood-brain barrier.
Especially in the most important part of your brain — the hippocampus.
This tiny horseshoe-shaped organ controls both your short-term and long-term memory. It’s key for everything from learning how to tie your shoe to recalling your treasured childhood memories.
Studies have found that the hippocampus is one of the first areas in the brain damaged by Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
Now your hippocampus is wired with an abundance of cannabinoid receptors. Hemp oil binds to these receptors and then reduces oxidative stress caused by inflammation. Acting as a potent antioxidant, hemp oil safeguards brain cells against further damage and degeneration.
And new research is showing how hemp oil can reverse and even prevent the development of Alzheimer’s.
In a groundbreaking study, a team from Neuroscience Research Australia found that hemp oil promotes the growth and development of brain cells. This in turn reduces the decline of memory and other brain functions.8
The study involved giving hemp oil to mice that were bred to have Alzheimer’s-like symptoms. These mice showed “drastic improvement” on tests relating to memory and recognition. The animals also started to perform like healthy animals again.
Further research found that treating brain cells with hemp oil reduces the amount of dangerous amyloid plaques and tangles that are the hallmark of Alzheimer’s.9
Hemp Oil — 4 Ways to Get the Healing Benefits
- Choose the way you want to take it. There are several ways to take hemp oil. Before choosing a method, check with your doctor to help you chose the best one. Some of the methods include pure concentrates, tinctures, vaporizing, supplement and topical treatments.
- Make sure your hemp oil hasn’t been “watered down.” A lot of supplement companies try to eke out as much profit as they can by diluting their products with fillers. Pay attention to the concentration level of the oil you’re buying.
- Read the ingredient list. Look for products with high-quality ingredients. Avoid corn syrup, GMOs, pesticides, trans fats or artificial additives.
- Look for a product that’s been lab tested. Find an oil that has been tested for consistency, and verified as free of mold, bacteria, pesticides, solvent residues and other contaminants.
