Feeling weak and a lack of energy production from degrading of your mitochondria is called “bioenergetic aging.”
I know that doesn’t sound good, and it’s not. Bioenergetic Aging brings about a constant decline in your body’s ability to generate the energy you need to even do simple things.
When we look at photos of the cells of aging people, we can see that their mitochondria have become degraded over time.
But if you look at the cells of young people, they have perfectly pristine mitochondria. Degenerating mitochondria is an early sign of aging.1

Your mitochondria are especially vulnerable because they don’t have some of the systems that protect and repair DNA in the rest of the cell.
This worsening of your mitochondrial performance is most evident in the heart cells (cardiomyocytes), brain cells (neurons) and muscle cells (myocytes).
