Jim R. wrote to tell me that something I had written about helped him in a life-changing way.

You see, Jim hadn’t been able to sleep through the night in more than 30 years. For decades, his enlarged prostate had him getting up three to four times a night to use the toilet.

A “good” night was when he only had to get up once or twice…

The nutrients responsible for letting Jim sleep through the night were a combination of plant sterols known as phytosterols along with a little-known ingredient that enhances absorption almost 1,000%.1

One of the most potent phytosterols is beta-sitosterol.

In one review of many separate clinical trials involving more than 500 men, beta-sitosterol helped them improve urinary flow and volume and reduce their BPH symptoms in every study.3

A separate study found that it eliminated or reduced late night trips to the toilet by 54%.4

Good food sources of beta-sitosterol include the African potato (which is part of the lily family), avocados, pistachios and grape leaves.

But one of the best sources is saw palmetto. The native tribes living here in my home state of Florida recognized the benefit of consuming the berries of this palm tree-like plant. Today, we know that this plant nutrient blocks DHT, the male sex hormone that causes your prostate to swell. In one study of 33 men, those who got 320 mg a day of saw palmetto extract had a 50% reduction in DHT compared to the prostate drug flutamide.5

But what made the biggest difference in keeping Jim out of the bathroom and asleep in his bed was the addition of Brazil nut oil. This long-chain fatty acid boosts the absorption of beta-sitosterol and saw palmetto by as much as 1,000%.6

You see, beta-sitosterols aren’t easy for your body to take in. And people who supplement on a phytosterol alone are only absorbing about 10% of what they need.

Brazil nuts are also high in selenium. This trace mineral protects men from prostate cancer by as much as 50%.7 Just two nuts a day supply all the selenium you’ll need.

Protect Your Prostate and Sleep in a No-Pee Zone

Here are two more powerful prostate boosters that I recommend:

  1. Supplement with the meteorite mineral. Boron is a rare trace mineral that crashed into Earth billions of years ago. Today, we know that this rare mineral significantly reduces prostate swelling. An important study of more than 7,700 men found that those who supplemented with boron reduced their rate of prostate cancer by 64%.8

    Most men only get about 10% of what they need. I suggest supplementing with 6 mg of boron daily.

  2. Add in bark from the African plum tree. Studies show that this extract — also known as Pygeum africanum — reduces late-night bathroom trips by improving urinary health. One review of 18 studies found that men reported better flow in just 60 days.

    Most of the pygeum supplements out there are standardized at 13% total sterols. Look for supplements that are standardized at 14% or higher. I recommend 200 mg per day.
