Since I wrote to you about my daily ortho-nutritional smoothie, many people have written to me asking me about juicing and fruit juice.
They still wonder if they can get healthy juice from a carton.
After all, the giant food manufacturers are constantly coming up with new “tropical,” “vegetable blend” and “fruit” juices. And they all claim to be “healthy” for you.
You can drink health-enhancing juice, but you can’t get it from a carton.
And it’s not fruit juice.
The problem with fruit juice is it’s too high on the glycemic index, those juices tend to be pasteurized, which takes away all the nutrients, and they tend to go rancid.
What you want to do instead is to use vegetables, and drink them immediately.
I use very little fruit in my ortho-smoothies. For most of us, you’re better off just to eat the fruit.
I don’t recommend pre-packaged juice drinks of any kind, and I don’t juice. I do have a juicer, but I use it for my smoothies, and things like frozen yogurt.
So if you’d like slightly sweet juice drink, try this ortho-nutritional smoothie instead:
- 1 Whole Lemon, Peeled
- ¼ Cup of Cilantro
- 4 Heads of Broccoli with stems
- ¼-½ Apple (for a sweeter taste, try red delicious.
For more tang, granny smith)
- 1/16th Piece of Turmeric
- ¼ Cup of Coconut Water
- ¼ Cup of Filtered Tap Water
- ¼ Cup of Spinach
- ¼ Cup of arugula
- 6 stalks of dandelion greens
- 4 Baby Carrots
- ½ Cup of Ice
