How I Got Ready for the African Jungle

I’ve been to some of the most remote and rugged places on Earth. But the Bwindi Impenetrable National Forest here in Africa really lives up to its name. It is the densest jungle I’ve ever encountered.

I just got back from my first-ever gorilla trek.

I was told it would take all day to hike to and track the gorillas, and that was fine for me. I have plenty of endurance. But if that were all I had – if I were a marathon runner, for example – I wouldn’t have met the challenge of this trek very well.

I had expected a long hike through dense jungle, and it was that. But what I hadn’t expected were the steep inclines, the muddy terrain and the rocks.

This unexpected challenge is a perfect example of why I’ve spent so much of my time and energy bringing you my P.A.C.E. program.

You see, my body was 100% ready. And that’s the benefit of doing P.A.C.E. It gives you the capacity you need at those times when you face unexpected challenges.

What do I mean by that?

P.A.C.E. workouts train you to have an extra gear. A reserve of power called capacity. You can call on this extra gear when something unexpected happens. Sure, it’s not every day you have to climb, leap, slide and hack your way through the densest highland rainforest in the world.

But I was hardly winded even after three hours. I have the confidence that I’ll be ready for whatever I need to do.

That’s what P.A.C.E. will do for you, too.

Dr. Sears in jungleOn the trail of a family of gorillas: We stopped for a minute in a sunny clearing in Africa’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. I was ready for more hiking!

It’s why I talk to you about it so often. Because if all you ever needed was endurance, you could just do aerobics. You could go running for a cardio workout. You could even do interval training if you wanted. Those all give you endurance.

But what happens when you need an extra boost of power? What happens when, instead of slow and steady for a long time, you need a surge of effort? What about when something unexpected happens?

Will you be ready to run down the fire escape in an emergency? What if you have to run to catch an elevator? Sprint to catch a shuttle bus? Or you have to jump into action quickly to stop your grandchild from darting into the street?

If you’ve ever asked yourself, “Why do P.A.C.E.?” Those are the reasons.

P.A.C.E. increases the pumping power of your heart and lungs so that you can respond when you need to. Whether it’s to a crisis, or to an athletic challenge.

I want you to try this for yourself. In fact, here’s a workout you can try right now.

It’s called a Cross-Crunch Jump Squat.

Movement 1: Stand upright with your legs together and arms extended in front of your chest, elbows bent. Lift your right knee toward your left elbow. At the same time, swing your right arm down and behind you. Return to starting position and repeat motion on the other side.

Movement 2: When you’re done with that, lower your arms to your sides, and lower yourself into a squat position. Leap upward as high as you can and simultaneously extend your arms and reach overhead.

Alternate those two movements until you’ve reached your desired intensity in each of three sets. To make it a true P.A.C.E. workout, remember to include acceleration. That means shorten your recovery time between sets, or get up to your desired intensity faster.

If you’re just beginning, you can modify the cross-crunch by bringing your knee up and touching your hand to it instead of your elbow.

I’ve found that three sets of any P.A.C.E. workout are best. That way, you can make it a true P.A.C.E. workout by increasing the intensity in very small amounts with each set. And as you get more fit and increase your capacity, you can also accelerate your workout by shortening the rest time, or getting to your desired intensity level faster. I guarantee you’ll feel greater stamina, more energy, and have extra power for life’s unexpected challenges.

There’s also one more thing I want you to try. Actually, it’s something I want you to have…

Whether you’ve never worked out with P.A.C.E. before, or if you’ve been doing P.A.C.E. for a while now, I’ve been working on something I want to show you.

It’s the best product I’ve ever created, and the most effective workout program ever made. It’s a six-DVD set of brand-new and fun P.A.C.E. workouts I developed just for you.

In fact, this new workout program I call PACE Express is going national on TV later this month.

Dr. Sears from PACE Express video interviewI did an exclusive interview as part of a bonus DVD for my new PACE Express fitness program where I reveal one principle of P.A.C.E. you may never have heard before…

But I want you to have it first.

And I also want you to have one more thing, too. It’s a 4-part bonus DVD.

The first part is my “Express Fit & Flexible” stretching workout. Second is the “Advanced Abs” workout, and third is a “Hips, Buns & Thighs” workout.

The fourth feature is an exclusive interview I did that’s all about the philosophy and discoveries behind P.A.C.E.

You’ve read about the principles of P.A.C.E., and I talk to you about it as often as I can. But in this interview, I talk about:

  • How I developed P.A.C.E.
  • Why cardio is the opposite of what we need in the modern world
  • Why progressively intense workouts are safer
  • The difference between “weight” and “fat” loss
  • How to break the “fat cycle”
  • And much more

I also reveal a principle of P.A.C.E. you haven’t heard yet. It has to do with why P.A.C.E. is the only way to reprogram your body so you can stay not only slim and powerful, but energized.

I also show you how to use this principle in your new P.A.C.E. workouts, and how it can help you build all the power your body will ever need. Just click here…
